St. Mark’s Christian Preschool & Daycare
Purpose of the School
The preschool at St. Mark Lutheran Church, West Henrietta, aims to provide spiritual, social, mental, and physical experiences to stimulate the interests and skills of your child. The children receive a blend of secular and spiritual education that provides an opportunity for them to learn and develop social consciousness in a Christian way.
Our mission is to help each child to develop social skills, solve problems, assume small responsibilities, share and work well with others, and develop his or her emergent literacy skills. We aim to enrich your child’s life now and prepare him or her to enter school in the coming years. We also hope that each child will learn to appreciate the wonders of God’s creation and His great Love in sending Jesus Christ as our Savior, to speak to God in prayer, and to lead a Christian life.
You can expect open communication with our teaching staff at all times. Our most important goal is to make your child’s first experience with school a happy one.
Curriculum
Our school offers classes for 3-5 year olds Monday through Friday from 9-11:30 a.m. Parents have the opportunity to select which days they would like their child to attend.
BIG NEWS!! Beginning in September, 2012, St. Mark’s Preschool will also be offering wrap-around daycare before and after preschool for enrolled students. Daycare will be available from 6:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. We hope this offers parents more flexibility in enrolling their children in our program. See the brochure and application below for more information!
St. Mark’s Preschool follows a developmental approach to skill acquisition. All activities revolve around the day’s unit of study, or theme (Seasons, Holidays, Colors, etc.). Our themes typically last approximately two weeks. We strive to encourage the children’s learning through gross/fine motor tasks, story time, art projects, music, field trips, etc. that center around the theme. This is done through large and small group activities and learning centers. We also learn a Bible story each week that fits in with our theme.
Facilities
Our classes meet in a large, pleasant, well-equipped room with adjoining child-sized bathroom. For outdoor play, we have a large, fenced in green area with playground equipment.
